Ten days from today I will be on a plane to Chicago for 2+ months doing awesome things for Jesus. I'm crazy excited to have all of these new experiences. This summer includes a LARGE amount of firsts for me. It's my first time on a plane, it's my first time being that far north, it's my first time that far west, it's my first mission experience without a group, it's my first time being the leader in a missions trip, it's my first time in a city that big, etc. As excited as I am for this trip (which I definitely am), I am also extremely nervous. I keep thinking that I'm not spiritually mature enough for this and that I'm not ready for this kind of step. I know that this is the enemy trying to get me down, so I shouldn't listen to it. The circumstances that led me to this opportunity are designed by God and I can see them so clearly! A lot of times when things happen we don't know why they happened or how they happened or if it's really God's will. Chicago is not one of those instances. I can tell you, at least on my end, the process God put me through to get me ready for this and the doors he closed and opened to give me this opportunity. I know Chicago is where I need to be and who I need to be with.
So back onto my excitement, I'M SO EXCITED!! This entire week is going to consist of me packing for school since I only have one day to get ready from the time I get back to the time I have to go back to Cola. Then next week will consist of me doing laundry and packing all of my things for Chicago.
Once I get in Chicago I'll be blogging a lot more, mainly because that's the purpose for this blog. I will also be posting prayer requests so that, if you wish, you can pray for me and the church I'll be working with, and whatever else comes up while I'm up there.
Right now if you could pray for the members of Lamon Avenue Baptist Church, my family as they prepare for me going away, the neighborhood of Avondale in Chicago- that God would start preparing their hearts and work in their lives, the children who will be going to the Kid's Bible Camps happening throughout the summer, and Jennifer and Kevin Kelly who are my field supervisors and are my host home.
