I fail at this updating thing

I am so bad about writing in this blog and updating yall on things happening in Chicago. I'm so sorry!

Two weeks ago, we had a team come in from Indiana and they helped with our Kid's Club at the church. They were such a great team to work with and we all got really close really quickly. It's amazing how God can put people together who have never met before, but their love for Him is the common bond, so it's like they've known each other forever. They were able to take over the kid's club, so I was able to interact with parents and be a helper of sorts, which was different, but cool. During the day, we all did work around the church. For example, we primed the windows in the third floor of the education building, so when a mission team from Nebraska comes towards the end of this week, we'll be able to get them painted and beautiful!

As for the actual kid's club, we had a pretty good amount of kids show up. Most of them were from the church, and we didn't have too many new people come. They seemed to have a great time though! There are children that live across the street from the church who are Jahovah's Witness, so we thought they wouldn't come. To our surprise, they did! Of course, they wouldn't stay for the Bible story, but they were able to do the crafts and songs, so hopefully a seed was planted! Please be in prayer for those kids and all of the others who came to kid's club!

Last week was the 4th of July, so I basically had the week off. We didn't have any teams in, so I just had to prepare for Kid's Club in the park that Tuesday night and service for Sunday. That Tuesday it was my first time doing the lesson, so I got a little stressed out and nervous. It went really well, though. We've been going through the Wordless book, and last week was the "clean" page. It talked about how we need to have faith, even though we can't see Jesus like the disciples could. It went super well, and the kid's listened and paid attention! We did a review game at the end, and we could tell that a lot of them really listened, and retained the information!

On the fourth, we all walked to Logan Square and ate lunch at Cafe Con Leche, which is a super delicious place of eating. I drank my first horchata which tastes like the milk in your bowl after eating Cinnamon Toast Crunch. omnomnom deliciousness. Then later that day we went over to the church and played with the sprinkler and had delicious stereotypical patriotic food (burgers).

Saturday we went to the lake and oh my goodness, I am taking Lake Michigan back to South Carolina with me. Seriously. There are waves and all the joy of the ocean, but none of the gross stuff. No salt water to burn your eyes, no gross sea creatures like sharks and jelly fish, and no tides! and it's clean and beautiful unlike the muddy lakes of SC. I want to be there ALL the days!

Sunday we had a team come in from Virginia, which is led by one of the missionaries that stayed with Jennifer and Kevin last summer. They helped us with our Community Garden Party that was Sunday, which went AWESOME! Since we can't go into schools and "advertise" our bible clubs and such, we tell them about the party. When they come to the party THEN we can invite them to the Bible club we do every Tuesday! We had so many people come through and everyone had such a great time. The team is with us the rest of the week (almost), and is doing a week-long Kid's Club in the park in Avondale. Yesterday was a little slow, because it was the first day. I think, and pray, that as the week progresses, more and more kids will be able to come and here the Gospel!

Soon, we'll have another missionary joining us in Chicago, which I'm super excited about! I went into the summer as a lone missionary, which has grown me in so many ways. But now one of the missionaries who was in southern Illinois, will be moving to Chicago and living with me the rest of the summer. yay!!!
